What We Do

At FDCC we believe in our mission and are committed to fulfilling that to which we are called.  “Six Plus One” is the phrase we use to encapsulate our mission.  We believe that in order to be a vibrant, healthy, effective, holistic congregation we must practice these elements we call “Six”– worship, discipleship, fellowship, stewardship, evangelism and outreach – while embracing what we call “plus one”: global outreach. (Acts 2:41-47)

Heartfelt, exuberant, unrestricted, pure, undignified – these words are often used to describe worship at FDCC. We strive to offer praise, thanksgiving and adoration unto God so that we may enter into His very presence each time we grace the sanctuary. Our worship is emotional and intentional, flowing from a Biblical understanding of who God is.

But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such as these to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth. (John 4:23-24)

At FDCC we offer a series of ongoing classes that provide sound Biblical and theological instruction to all of our enrolled members. These classes called “phases” serve to spiritually nourish our members so that they develop and grow in their relationship with God beyond the point of conversion to true discipleship.

Then Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, ‘If you continue in my word, you are truly my disciples; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.' (John 8:31-32)

We believe that fellowship (koinonia) is essential to the healthy spiritual growth of the believer. Through fellowship we find relationship, partnership, security, accountability, responsibility, fun, friendship, family, love, understanding, sharing, companionship, encouragement, unity, genuine agape’, and lots of hugs.

For I am longing to see you so that I may share with you some spiritual gift to strengthen you— or rather so that we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine. (Romans 1:11-12)

The practice of proportionately using our time, abilities and material possessions for the benefit of the kingdom of God is based on our understanding that everything we possess belongs to God – we are merely trustees. We practice stewardship, striving to be trustworthy, by giving, working and participating in ministry, outreach, evangelism, and missions.

Moreover, it is required of stewards that they should be found trustworthy. (1 Corinthians 4:2)

We believe that we have a responsibility as believers to share our faith with those around us who do not know Christ. We do this in the hope that they will listen, believe, receive Christ as their Savior and become a part of a Bible-believing church for ongoing discipleship.

And he said to them, ‘Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to the whole creation. The one who believes and is baptized will be saved; but the one who does not believe will be condemned. (Mark 16:15-16)

Through God’s grace, demonstrated in the generosity of the membership and our faithful supporters, FDCC is able to enrich the lives of the disenfranchised through Dorcas, Inc., the umbrella that covers the outreach ministries of FDCC. These include CHANGE, CHALLENGE, HOPE, and Freedom From Abuse.

‘The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free. (Luke 4:18)

Our responsibility to share our faith and enrich the lives of the disenfranchised does not stop at the shores of America. We believe we have a responsibility to share the whole gospel with the whole world. The generosity of our members and supporters has allowed us to support missionaries in many countries and to send members of our congregation to minister to persons in several countries including Haiti, Belize and Liberia through Dorcas, Inc.

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, (Matthew 28:19)
